Encina House by Aranguren & Gallegos, an elegant, sloping structure reminiscent of an arbor, similarly takes in the surrounding views. Located in a pine forest north of Madrid, the lower floor is embedded in rock and connected to the upper by a natural stone wall.<\/p>\n

Shinichi Ogawa's Seaside House is an impeccably minimalist two-story marvel in Kanagawa that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The living area flows into a cantilevered terrace and infinity pool, almost merging into the ocean as one seamless whole.<\/p>\n

In Vietnam, Shunri Nishizawa's house in Chau Doc exudes tropical sophistication with exposed wooden beams, woven bamboo, plants, concrete panels and interior balconies and terraces. Corrugated metal panels act as movable walls and shutters and offer views of the surrounding rice fields.<\/p>\n

These houses - along with more than 50 others - each have remarkably different designs. However, they all walk the line between inside and outside, each symbiotic with its surroundings.<\/p>\n
