For forty years, Inez van Lamsweerde (born 1963) and Vinoodh Matadin (born 1961) have been pushing the boundaries of photography. Born in the Netherlands and acclaimed worldwide for their fearless fusion of art, fashion and portrait photography, this iconic duo has created a body of work that is as visually seductive as it is intellectually innovative. They have always embraced innovation, but without technology taking over their narrative.<\/p>\n

Acting as both mirror and magnifying glass, their photography not only draws on popular culture but also critiques it, uncovering a complex blending of the familiar and the disturbing, the mundane and the uncanny. Philosopher Simone Weil's definition of true seeing - \"Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity\" - is at the heart of Can Love Be a Photograph, which covers four decades of the duo's life and work.<\/p>\n

In addition to dozens of photographs by Inez & Vinoodh, this book includes contributions by Michael Amzalag & Mathias Augustyniak, Guus Beumer, Francesco Bonami, Pamela Chen, Donatien Grau, Margriet Schavemaker and Willemijn van der Zwaan, as well as an extensive conversation with Tilda Swinton.<\/p>\n
