Ralph Gibson, who travels widely, works primarily in inspired series, associated pictorial reflections in both monochrome and color, whose titles - The Somnambulist, Déjà-Vu, Days at Sea and Chiaroscuro - underscore the particular poetic sensibility that characterizes his work. He began working with Dorothea Lange in 1960, moved to New York in 1967 and was soon considered in the same light as people like Larry Clark and Diane Arbus.
