The famous Magnum and Leica photographer has had a lasting influence on the visual language of German photojournalism since the 1960s. His works are characterized by emotional depth, social relevance and precise image composition, making him a master of "engaged photography.

Hoepker, born in Munich in 1936, began photographing as a teenager. After his first successes in competitions, he worked for well-known magazines such as Münchener Illustrierte and Kristall. From 1964 he shaped the visual language of the magazine tern as a full-time photographer. In 1989 he became the first German full member of the renowned agency Magnum and served as its president from 2003 to 2007.
Hoeker's works have been exhibited worldwide and are coveted collectibles. The new retrospective also includes previously unpublished material - a must for art and photography enthusiasts.
