The "One-off" coffee table book is a beautiful reproduction of a unique photo album featuring iconic photographs by Helmut Newton, including many never-before-seen images. The beautiful album contains more than 100 photographs - 8 unique Polaroid photographs, 16 chromogenic prints and 79 gelatin silver prints - each with a handwritten pencil annotation by Newton.
German-Australian photographer Helmut Newton is one of the world's most iconic fashion photographers. Inspired by expressionist cinema, film noir and surrealism, Newton was a prolific image-maker and visionary whose bold work helped shape modern photography and fine art.
In 1999, together with his friend and collector Gert Elfering, Newton compiled a "One-off" photo album of his groundbreaking work. Helmut Newton: One-off reproduces this album in full, true to its original format, as a beautiful reproduction, allowing readers to experience this remarkable object and marvel at Newton's artistic process and ingenuity.
In addition to the album itself, the book includes a foreword by Philippe Garner, photography specialist and vice president of the Helmut Newton Foundation, as well as an insightful interview between Matthias Harder, director of the Helmut Newton Foundation, and Gert Elfering, which together offer a compelling look at Newton's creative process.
