Taschen's impressive 'Pucci' coffee table book tells the story of fashion house Pucci. This XL fashion book captures the breathtaking elegance and drama of a unique brand. With hundreds of photographs, drawings and spontaneous shots from the archives of the Emilio Pucci Foundation, browse through the fashion history of the remarkable Pucci dynasty.
Emilio Pucci had a passion for women, a visionary sense of style and an eye for color and design. With these talents, he created a fashion house unlike any other. In the early 1950s, his boutique on the island of Capri catered to wealthy, sophisticated women, heiresses and movie stars who bought his "Capri pants," silk scarves and lightweight garments. By the end of the decade Jacqueline Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe wore his dresses, and by the mid-1960s the label was synonymous with the golden lifestyle of the international jet set.
The story of Pucci is a modern epic with roots in Renaissance Italy: the brand's founder, Marquis Emilio Pucci di Barsento, was a charismatic aristocrat whose lineage dates back to the 15th century. It is a story of evolution: a family business that grew from a small store to an international brand. And finally, it is a story of innovation: Pucci was one of the first brands with a logo and a pioneer in diversifying into interiors, sportswear and accessories. It introduced smooth-fitting, lightweight fabrics, pop art prints and a new color palette to women's clothing and continued to continually push the boundaries of fabric and print technologies.
Each book is uniquely bound with one of the original printed fabrics from Emilio Pucci's collection and comes with one of the beautiful fabrics available.
